Bauer Media and SnapNow in Innovative Interactivity Partnership
Kerrang! pioneers new advertising innovation for Bauer Media
Bauer Media, home to the UK's most influential media brands, and SnapNow, the pioneering mobile visual search technology company, have signed an exclusive six month partnership to deliver the next generation of on-the-go advertising interactivity
SnapNow enabled advertisements remove the need for QR (Quick Response) codes to be embedded in advertising copy, allowing total interactivity without compromising the advertising copy and imagery. The technology works across magazine advertising, videos, TV programmes and poster sites and will enable Bauer Media to offer advertisers complete in-the-round solutions.
Kerrang! Magazine, which last year was the first media brand to pioneer QR technology, will premier the first Bauer Media SnapNow enabled advert for client Play.com in its August 16th issue.
Clients can choose to have a 'SnapNow' enabled flash alongside their imagery. Bauer Media can offer solutions across platforms and has the exclusive access to the SnapNow technology across magazines.
Chris Shepperson, Head of Market, Men's Entertainment, Bauer Media said: "We are delighted to once again, with our exclusive partnership with SnapNow, be pushing the boundaries of creativity with our aim to build 360 degree creative solutions for our clients to interact with our audiences whenever, wherever and however they want it.
"By working with SnapNow's pioneering technology to digitise our clients' creative material, all our advertising has the potential to be fully interactive and also makes the work and cost to set up expensive "one off" text codes numbers for individual campaigns a thing of the past."
Tony Keaveny, Head of Sales at SnapNow, said: "It is great to be partnering with Bauer Media, the largest consumer magazine publishing company in the UK. We look forward to working on innovative and fun campaigns for their Clients over the coming months - linking the physical and online worlds via the mobile, providing advertiser and consumers the best of both worlds."
About SnapNow
Founded in 2001 by engineers from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory, SnapNow (www.SnapNow.com) is a mobile visual search company employing leading image recognition technology. Linking the physical and digital worlds through mobile phones, SnapNow’s patented solution enables any consumer with a camera phone to snap an image, send it via MMS or email, and receive a response that is linked to a relevant web page. A dedicated application, called “SnapApp” streamlines the process to three clicks of a button, enabling the easiest and most intuitive way for consumers to search the web on a mobile phone. SnapNow’s technology also allows brands to maximise the return on investment of traditional advertising spend by allowing them to make packaging, print, outdoor, or just about any other advertising “Snappable”.
Headquartered in Los Angeles, USA, SnapNow has offices in London, Tokyo and Guangzhou. SnapNow has been operational since 2005 and has formed significant partnerships with media owners and major brands around the world. SnapNow owns the US patent which encompasses its entire mobile visual search process, with further patents pending in the US, EU and Japan.
